This simply delightful, slim-line display cabinet was made by Berkowitz Furniture.  Established by Samuel Berkowitz in Melbourne in 1896, in 1949 the next generation (3 sons of Samuel), while continuing the furniture manufacturing business, they transitioned into retail and opened Berkowitz Fine Furniture in Collins Street, Melbourne.  It features;

• embossed fabric backing
• 2 fully height adjustable glass shelves (removable)
• single dovetail-joined drawer

Condition overview; in good condition, relative to its age, there are no cracks in the glass and the door, drawer and lock work well.  As expected on a used piece of this vintage, it displays general wear, knock and surface marks.  In addition, there are age-related changes to the veneer to the front top above the door, however the veneer is secure and not fragile
