A magnificent chest of drawers, Biedermeier furniture spans from 1815 – 1848.  This particular piece is in one of the many styles of Biedermeier design of its era; such pieces comprised of weighty forms, smoothly polished surfaces, restrained decoration and the use of materials with characteristic patterns, to ensure the grain of the wood was showcased in the best possible way.

Condition overview; in good condition, relative to its age, it is a very solid, sturdy and well-made piece.  All of the drawers work well as do the locks.  As to be expected on a piece of this vintage, it displays general wear, knock (to edges of the drawers in areas) and surface marks (including to the top).  In addition, it has signs of old borer but as a piece imported to Australia, it has been treated, so they are no longer active.
