This fabulous matching pair of bedsides were made as part of the Standis range of furniture by Stapleton & Lewis.  They were based in Lennox St Richmond, Melbourne from around the early 1900’s to 1956. They feature;

• solid walnut timber & walnut veneer construction
• date stamped 25th May 1955
• stunning wood grain figuring
• contrasting timber feature surround to the drawers
• 3 dovetail-joined drawers
• complete & matching brass knobs
• recessed plinth base
• makers stamp – Standis Furniture S & L (Stapleton & Lewis)

Condition overview; in good condition, they are both very well-made pieces and all of the drawers work well.  As expected on used pieces, they display general wear, knock and surface marks.  On one side of each there are marks where they were originally joined to another piece.
