This superb piece is a fabulous example of late Georgian furniture design … thanks King George III ? ??️! It features;
- solid mahogany timber & mahogany veneer construction
- circa 1800
- hand crafted including hand-made nails
- 3 hand-cut dovetail-joined drawers
- 1 lock, 1 key - top drawer locks (middle lock missing, bottom lock does not work)
- complete brass key holes
- complete & matching brass bail handles
- splayed bracket feet
Condition overview; in fair condition, relative to its age, it is a solid, well-made piece and the drawers and lock work well. As to be expected on a well-used piece of this vintage, it displays numerous general wear, surface marks and knocks as well as a piece of the cock beading is missing to the bottom top left-hand corner of the drawer. There are some age-related changes to the veneer on the left-hand side and some separation of the timber on the right-hand side, however none affect its structural integrity. If only this piece could talk!
