This superb desk does not have a maker’s mark, however it has been designed in the Monteverdi Young style of the 1950’s with a strong Danish / Scandinavian design influence.  A freestanding desk, it is finished on the back as well, therefore it can be placed anywhere in a room, not just limited to being placed against a wall.  It features;

Condition overview; in good condition, it is a solid well-made piece.  The drawers and lock all work well.  As expected on a used piece of this vintage, it displays general wear (including the gold on the embossing has worn), tear, knock (including scuff marks to the right-hand side panel of the pedestal and backing board) and surface marks (including to the top).  In addition, we believe two additional locks were retro-fitted to the side of the drawers and then removed and the holes plugged at some point.

Dimensions; 2275mm long x 1000mm wide (at the widest point), 735mm (at the narrowest point) x 765mm high.
