This impressive piece designed in the Chatley / Chiswell style was made by Burgess Furniture in Preston Melbourne.  Burgess commenced business in Melbourne in 1869, moved from Collingwood to Preston in 1958 and sadly, due to economic pressures closed their doors in 2005.  It features;

• teak veneer construction

• circa 1960’s

• 3 doors w moulding edge features

• complete & matching turned timber knobs

• 3 dovetail-joined drawers (top one is a cutlery drawer; all w felt-lined bases)

• 2 fully adjustable shelves

• recessed plinth base

Condition overview: in good condition,it is a very solid and sturdy piece and the drawers and drawers all work well.  As to be expected on a used piece, it displays general wear, tear, knock and surface marks and some inconsistency to the finish.
