This delightful chest of drawers was made by H. Eastgate, Brunswick Melbourne.  The Company was established in the early 1920’s by Harold Eastgate and continues to be a highly regarded manufacturer of quality furniture to this day.  It features;

• oak timber & silky oak ply timber (sides & tops) construction

• 4 dovetail-joined drawers
• complete & matching timber handles
• lovely wood grain figuring
• plinth base, square-cut back legs
• makers stamp; H. Eastgate, Albert St, West Brunswick

Condition overview; in good condition, relative to its age, it is a very solid, sturdy, beautifully crafted piece and all of the drawers work seamlessly.  As expected on a piece of this vintage, it displays general wear, knock and surface marks (including to the top).  In addition, a repair has been made at some stage to the top left-hand edge of the bottom drawer.
