This lovely chest of drawers is a wonderful example of Fred Ward furniture made for Myer Heritage. A highly regarded designer (1947 – 1988), his furniture design is characterised by his pioneering use of unstained Australian timbers. Among some of the timbers he used to make furniture were Australian blackwood, myrtle, coachwood, walnut, fiddle-back and whitegum; all used to compliment the clean, simple and flowing lines of his designs.
• solid myrtle timber construction
• circa 1960’s
• 8 dovetail-joined drawers
• complete & matching turned timber knobs
• tapered cigar legs
• makers plate; Myer Heritage
Condition overview; in good condition, relative to its age, it is a solid, beautifully crafted piece and all the drawers work well. As to be expected on a piece of this vintage, it displays general wear, knockand surface marks but nothing major to note.
Dimensions; 1390mm wide x 470mm deep x 850mm high.
