This character-filled Mizuya Dansu (Japanese kitchen chest) is a gorgeous slim-line piece that will add warmth and a point of interest to any space.  A popular feature in Japanese kitchens of the past, kitchen chests were used for storing dinnerware, chopsticks and an array of kitchen utensils, however now they are used as multi-functional storage pieces that make a beautiful addition to any room.  It features;

  • elm timber & elm timber veneer, oak timber construction
  • circa 1940’s
  • exquisite wood grain figuring
  • dual sliding door cabinet
  • 13 butt joint drawers
  • complete bail handles
  • 2 height level adjustable shelves (removable)
  • plinth base

Condition overview; in good condition, relative to its age, it is a solid piece and all the drawers and the sliding doors work well.  As to be expected on a well-used piece of this vintage, it displays general wear, knock (including to the front edge of the top) and surface marks.

Dimensions; 935mm wide x 370mm deep x 1050mm high.  Internal cabinet depth; 305mm deep.

Please review the photos and the condition overview as they form part of the description. There may be variances in colour, as it can be difficult to capture exact colour at times. Also, it is impossible to mention / photograph every mark, therefore apart from general wear and tear marks, we endeavour to report and capture as many specific marks or damage, however we may inadvertently miss something. With this in mind; we encourage and highly recommend viewing of items.
