This great example of Art Deco furniture design was made in Australia, specifically for Myer Emporium in Melbourne, and features;

• walnut timber & walnut veneer construction

• circa 1940’s

• exquisite wood grain figuring

• 2 cabinet doors

• 2 internal dovetail joined drawers

• complete & matching set of Bakelite handles

• shaped bracket / ogee feet

• makers stamp reads; Guaranteed, Waten or Watenel (faded, therefore not fully legible) of Highest Quality, Borer Proof, Designed & Built Exclusively for Myer Emporium Ltd

Condition overview; in good condition, relative to its vintage, it is a very solid and sturdy piece.  The doors and drawers work well. As expected on a piece of this vintage, it displays general wear, tear, knock and surface marks (particularly to the top) and the finish is inconsistent in areas.

Dimensions; 1375mm wide x 490mm deep x 770mm high.  Internal right-hand side (above drawers) shelf height clearance; 180mm.  Internal cabinet; 455mm deep.
