A fabulous retro piece, it was made made in Melbourne by Eastgate Furniture.  The rich heritage of the Company began in the early 1920’s when Harold Eastgate started his journey in the Australian furniture industry.  In 1948 Robert Henry Eastgate joined Arthur Jelliffe as a director of A. Jelliffe Pty. Ltd, furniture manufacturers (established in 1936).  It features;

• oak timber & maple veneer construction

• circa 1950’s

• 4 dovetail-joined drawers (top one is a cutlery drawer)

• complete timber finger-grip handles

• 2 glass sliding doors

• 1 fixed level shelf

• recessed base

• splayed square tapered legs

• makers stamp; H. Eastgate, Albion St, West Brunswick

Condition overview: in good condition,relative to its vintage, it is a very solid and sturdy piece and the drawers and sliding glass doors all work well.  There are no cracks or chips in the glass. As to be expected on a used piece of this age, it displays general wear, tear, knock and surface marks and the finish is inconsistent in areas. 

Dimensions; 1360mm wide x 470mm deep x 875mm high.  Internal shelf height clearances from top to bottom; 250mm, 295mm.  Internal; 400mm deep
